Last week, you let one decision stand.
You didn’t reopen it.
You didn’t renegotiate.
You said: This decision already has a place.
And then something uncomfortable happened.
The doubt got louder.
Not because the decision was wrong.
Because your nervous system is used to equating second-guessing with safety.
You learned to:
Double-check your approach
Rehearse your boundaries
Anticipate backlash
Scan for consequences
Reopening the decision wasn’t weakness.
It was protection.
So when you stop reopening it, your body doesn’t immediately relax.
It asks:
Are we sure?
What Nervous System Decision Doubt Actually Means
The spike isn’t proof you should change your boundary.
It’s proof your nervous system hasn’t caught up to the new structure yet.
When you’ve carried emotional labor in systems that scrutinize you, certainty can feel risky.
So the urge to renegotiate is less about the decision
and more about the discomfort of standing still.
This is where most people give up.
They assume:
“If I feel this much doubt, the policy must be wrong.”
But doubt is not a verdict.
It’s your nervous system adjusting to a new structure.
This Sunday: Stay With the Spike
Not forever.
Just long enough.
When the doubt rises this week:
Pause.
Feel your feet on the floor.
Take one slow breath.
And repeat:
This decision already has a place.
Then let the discomfort move through without reopening the file.
No extra explanation.
No performance of fairness.
No softening for imaginary critics.
Just steadiness.

Not perfectly.

Let one decision stand.
